Happy Hub: Star Wars, Christmas, Four, & More!

There is so much to get to this month I don't really know where to begin. (Clearly I'm just saying that because we always start with Tunes, don't we?) I feel a little pressured because this is the last post of 2015. I have to make it a good one! I think I did a pretty good job but ultimately you'll be the judge of that. December's such a busy month it'd be a shame if I left something out so definitely let me know what I missed in the comments! Click that "read more" to see what I remembered to include!

#hairoftheweek: Fall 2015 Recap

Now that we're officially done with the season, it's time to consolidate everything into one post for your viewing pleasure. It's like a gallery of sorts. I'm really proud of Fall 2015 because I came up with all the hairstyles myself so each of them have an extra special place in my heart. It's been a memorable season and everybody seemed to be enjoying it as much as I have. Click on that "read more" to see all of the hairstyles from Fall 2015!

Visiting Voices: Christmas Movies

I wanted to do something special for Christmas and seeing as the big day is still two days away, there's plenty of time left to sit down and enjoy some Christmassy flicks. I've recruited my roommates to pitch in their all-time favorite Christmas movies for this post so you can get a taste of what our apartment will be watching this season. Under the read more there are three of our favorite Christmas movies (and why we love them) and we'd love to hear what your favorite Christmas movies are so let us know! Let's get to it!

{Bonus} #hairoftheweek: Dutch Pigtail Wreath

This might be one of my personal favorite creations but that just might be because I wore it for our annual family Christmas party! I'm also quite chuffed with myself because I stumbled across this hairstyle on accident. Sometimes all it takes it just a bit of messing around to find what you didn't know you were looking for.

Book Talk: Christmas Recommendations

Now that we're all starting winter break, we're going to have a lot more time on our hands to read. Finally! What better time to cozy up with a book than when you're all snuggled up in bed (or by the fire if that's a thing you do) with a warm drink in hand? Add some rain or snow falling outside of your window?! And I can't think of a better book to snuggle up with than one fit for the season -- a Christmas book! Well, this list will have holiday books, not necessarily Christmas, but in season enough to make the most sense to be reading in December. Hopefully you like the list I've put together. Let's get to it!

#hairoftheweek: #tbt French Lace Duo

This season's Fan Favorite #hairoftheweek was a real close one. Like, real close. There was a three-way tie for a while and nearly every hairstyle had votes. Before voting began, I honestly had no idea which hairstyle would win but I knew I'd be pleased with any outcome. I didn't have a favorite myself because how can you choose between your children?!

Travelog: Cruise Food | Desserts

After this post, we will officially done with all the content from this summer's epic cruise. Don't shed a tear quite yet -- we still have this post to go! And what better way than to go out with two cruises worth of desserts?! This post is also very special because it's dedicated to Amreen, who is sweet as pie. (Unfortunately, there is no pie in this blog post.) Today is her birthday (two whole decades!) so give her some love on Twitter, Tumblr, or in the comments below! Happy birthday, Amreen!

Let's get on to the desserts, shall we?

#hairoftheweek: French Fishtail Accent

Since #hairoftheweek's seasons last as long as my academic quarters, I'm always anticipating getting to Week 10. That signals the end of instruction for my classes so all that's left are final exams. That's not exactly something to be glad about but just think how close it is to being over... This time of the quarter is also exciting because I get to hear your feedback on the season! Fan Favorite is one of the best parts of #hairoftheweek because everybody gets to join in on the fun.

Book Talk: November Wrap Up

As I wrap up the month and finish up this blog post, the books I read at the beginning of November seem so far away. I didn't get to read as much as I would've liked to, especially since I increased my Goodreads Reading Challenge from 80 to 90 books for the year, but it is not a bad number at all. I'm confident that I'll be able to complete this new goal by the end of the year.

Happy Hub: All American, The Good Dinosaur, Zoya Yuna, & More!

November felt really long this month (thanks to a certain class that will not be named... *cough* business law *cough*) but I managed to fit a lot in. Looking at this Happy Hub, it doesn't look like there's any more than any other month but I felt like a busy bee all month. Thankfully I had plenty of long weekends and days off because those were packed as well. Maybe I can pencil in some relaxation for winter break...

#hairoftheweek: Fishtail Flip Crown

It's Thanksgiving week! I'll officially be on break the moment this blog post goes up and I'm sure you are already there. Hopefully I'll be able to relax a bit this long weekend despite my impending finals and paper... But right now I'm just so glad you are finally seeing this hairstyle because I was very very excited when I came up with the idea for it weeks ago.

#hairoftheweek: Dutch Lace Bun

Long time no blog! I mean, I only skipped one post but that's enough to throw me off my game. There was so much going on this week and so much deviation from my usual schedule that nothing really felt right. Looking on the bright side, Thanksgiving is next week and it won't be long until the quarter is over and I can finally let myself relax. Sleeping in past ten without guilt?! Paradise.

#hairoftheweek: Khaleesi | French Lace Duo

Stepping out of the box wasn't the intention for this week's #hairoftheweek but that's what ended up happening. I wasn't sure about this one because it's so different from what I've usually done for #hairoftheweek but I have some wonderfully supportive friends that inspire confidence in me and reassure me that different is okay.

Travelog: Cruise Food | Entrees

It's time for another Cruise Food post! I had difficulty categorizing this post so I hope you get a chuckle out of the headings. I think you'll have a really good idea about my favorite Western foods by the time you're done. If you're just joining the Cruise Food series, or if you just want to recap, be sure to check out the Starters and be on the lookout for Desserts!

Everything you see on these Cruise Food posts are from my Mediterranean cruise on the Norwegian Jade. You can read all about that trip in these three posts. (You can also read about my time in Venice but I was off the ship by then.)

#hairoftheweek: Chain Rope Accent

Whenever I think of autumn, there are two versions that I picture. The sunny, deceptively crisp days and the brisk, windy, soggy days. Most of this week was the former. I wouldn't mind some more of the latter, though. I need every excuse to break out my sweaters (and to splash in puddles but that's a whole different issue).

Book Talk: October Wrap Up

I felt like I hardly got through any books (probably because of some of the books I read this month were slow-going) but I actually did pretty well for myself. Granted, I only actually read two novels but I'll take anything I can get. I did not realize how close I was to completing my Goodreads Reading Challenge for the year. I'm considering extending it from 80 to... 85? 90? What do you think? Thank goodness those productive summer months provided a cushion for the busy school year.

#hairoftheweek: French Twisty Bun

I actually put a little bit of effort into all my outfits this week and that is enough of a victory for me to call this week a success. I'm also riding that calm post-test wave so it's been smooth sailing. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts. Who knows when it'll be ripped from my hands?! (Looking at you, 8am business law.) At least I know that when it happens, my hair will be looking fantastic.

Happy Hub: The Martian, Emotion, Zoya Cassedy + Haven, & More!

Now that we're back to school, I'm having a harder time keeping track of my favorites -- or even having favorites for that matter. Despite the exams, homework, and general exhaustion, I've managed to squeeze in some favorites. Hopefully these are the things that will stand out in my memory when I look back on this blur of a month.

#hairoftheweek: Faux Half Shave

I hope you're liking my originals because this season is setting a new record. I'm so glad I actually prepared ahead of time because amongst this chaos we call school, I don't have to worry about coming up with a #hairoftheweek. I can just pull from all the hairstyles I have saved up! Not procrastinating really does pay off. This week's #hairoftheweek gave me a chance to pretend to be edgy for a day while showing off my ear cuff. Two birds with one stone, ya know?

Book Talk: Duology Recommendations

There are times when you want a story that's a little longer than a stand alone but a trilogy or series feels like too much commitment. This is where duologies come in. In the last couple years, trilogies have been a trend in the book industry, leaving other types of stories overlooked. In this post, you're going to find five of my favorite duologies that'll hopefully catch your eye.

#hairoftheweek: Swoopy Half Up

I'm proud to be starting out this season with a bunch of my originals. I'm really glad I had a bunch lined up because this quarter has proven to be the busiest I've ever been in my college career thus far. Another perk of having my original hairstyles is that they're all so easy and I only have to practice them once before I'm ready to go. This hairstyle was so simple that I subconsciously had to make up for it by stabbing my eye with the mascara wand twice. That's what I tell myself to cover up my ineptitude.

Travelog: Cruise Food | Starters

I promised you pictures of various dishes I had on my cruise and I'm here to deliver. I'm going to try to keep the chatter to a minimum in this post so you can be free to take it all in without any pesky distractions. Originally, the plan was to stick all the pictures in one post but an hour and a half into putting the post together, I realized how many dishes I'd photographed. I made an executive decision to split up this post into a three part series, which will be coming to you the second Wednesday of each month through the end of the year. All of these photos come from the dining room because the buffet can be a zoo and, let's be real, your plate never looks appetizing with all those foods mushed together. Some of the photos are a little bit blurry because I was always eager to get to the fun part (read: eating) but I did my best and I hope you aren't reading this on an empty stomach because you're about to be in trouble if you are.

Everything you see on these Cruise Food posts are from my Mediterranean cruise on the Norwegian Jade. You can read all about that trip in these three posts. (You can also read about my time in Venice but I was off the ship by then.)

#hairoftheweek: Half Up Snake Accent

What a long week it's been. This week was my first full week of classes and I underestimated the toll two 8am classes a week can have. Slap another early morning for community service on Saturday? I'm pooped. Thankfully this week's #hairoftheweek is one that's so easy that you could do it half asleep. Don't worry, it takes longer to type out the name than to actually do this hairstyle.

If you missed the start of Fall 2015, you can find the Variety Bun here! Per usual, the start of the month means I round up all the books I read in the previous month in my monthly Wrap Up. I'm pretty proud of September, if I do say so myself.

Book Talk: September Wrap Up

The last month of summer means it's the last month to get as many books in (and as far ahead in my Goodreads Reading Challenge) as possible before the hustle and bustle of school kicks in. It looks like all my hard work paid off because September turned out to be my best reading month this year, unbeknownst to me until I tallied up the stats. Although I read a lot of books in a few genres this month, I feel like I really branched out. And I only ended up with one dud! I mean, if you gotta have them, might as well let them be the book that's under 300 pages, right? I'm excited about my progress this month. Click that "read more" to see what I've been reading this month and don't forget to check out last month's Wrap Up if you missed it!

#hairoftheweek: Variety Bun

Last summer I told myself I'd use my free time to come up with some cool hairstyles so I would have plenty to choose from when I started college and another season of #hairoftheweek. That's not really how it ended up happening. I only ended up with one hairstyle but seeing that it was the most popular of the season gives me confidence that Fall 2015 is going to be a good one. I'm excited to be kicking off this school year with one of my originals.

Happy Hub: Man from U.N.C.L.E., Nick Carter, Leavenworth, & More!

I've spent all this week packing and getting ready to move back into college that leaving me not much time to actually sit down and blog. So much for getting some rest after moving in. I can't moan in earnest, though, because there was so much to love this month. I actually ended up cutting some stuff out because, while it was nice at the time, it wasn't on par with the stuff I truly enjoyed.

Travelog: Venice

Our cruises have come to an end, but as a final hurrah and to drag out our time in Europe (plane tickets are expensive), we tacked a couple days in Venice on to the end of our trip. Traveling on land and on sea are two very different experiences so I'm delighted I had the chance to semi-immerse myself in the Italian culture. We only had three full days in Venice so we had to manage our time wisely. That worked out better on some days than others. Nonetheless, our detour was well worth it if for the food alone. Land travel means local fare so brace yourself for plenty of food photos. I'd click that "read more" if I were you. ;)

Travelog: Greek Isles Cruise

Now that we've finished one cruise, it's time to usher in the second half of our trip. If the title doesn't tip you off, Greece is the word. This cruise is taking us to the Greek Isles (plus Venice)! These islands have been a dream destination for me and my mom for years. I was overjoyed when I found out we'd have more time to spend in Santorini as well as a chance to explore new destinations in the Mediterranean. It's hard not to love Greece.

Book Talk: August Wrap Up

This month I've been to Virginia (West and original), Greece (the ancient kind), the moon, and Mars (twice!), just to name a few destinations. No, I haven't been traveling again. They say those who read live a thousand lives (or something like that). I've had quite the reading month. It's my second best so far this year, trailing June by only 127 pages. I actually thought this month would beat June because August consisted entirely of novels but hey, eleven books is eleven books. This puts me at five books ahead of schedule for my Goodreads Reading Challenge! I'm setting myself up for a good rest of the year. *knock on wood*

If you haven't already, check out my previous monthly wrap ups! Want more books? Last month I posted a list of recommendations for books based off Greek mythology. Bit by the travel bug? No worries! I've got two Travelogs up covering my Mediterranean cruise from July! Here's part one and two. Ready to see what I read in August? Click the read more!

Travelog: Mediterranean Cruise Pt. 2

I hope you're ready to read more about my Mediterranean adventures! There isn't going to be a Travelog longer than the first, I think (there being only one at sea day), but this one could probably hold its own. A majority of the port-of-calls in this Travelog are in Italy but we do venture out into France and Malta as well. It seems like just yesterday I was sweltering under the unforgiving blaze of a European summer sun. That thing is relentless. Despite the copious amounts of sweat pouring down my back (that's specific to Cannes) (spoiler alert), I had a blast exploring and learning more about these gorgeous cities. Enough of my yammering. Click that read more to see what's in store but don't forget to check out the first Travelog if you haven't already!

Happy Hub: #bfflweek, R5, Annie, & More!

August took its time but also flew by. Funny how that happens. Most of the things in this Happy Hub are from an extended #bfflweek with Mikaela. Basically we spend as much time with each other as humanly possible before she leaves for college at the end of the month. Last year we managed to fit everything into one week but this time we spread it out a little bit. We also had a wider range of activities, which frankly wasn't very difficult since the only thing we did last year was watch movies. It's been an exciting month. It's been an exciting summer.

If you're new and have yet to catch up, I have written Happy Hubs every month since February when I started xo, Yvette! You can find them all here. If you want to know what this year's #bfflweek consisted of, click the read more! (You'll find it all under "Films" and "Entertainment.")

Travelog: Mediterranean Cruise Pt. 1

My original plan was to separate this trip into three posts – Mediterranean cruise, Greek Isles cruise, and Venice – but when our trip got off to a rocky start, there was no way that Mediterranean post would be less than a mile long. I know all our attention spans have been reduced to a mere six seconds, thanks to the instant gratification of the internet, so I’m going to save you the torture of having to sit through a 6,000 word blog post and break this Mediterranean cruise into two parts (not that this one's gonna feel any shorter). These travelogs will be coming at you for the next couple Sundays so keep your eyes peeled to read more about my Mediterranean adventures!

Book Talk: July Wrap Up

July turned out to be a lot better of a reading month than I expected. I read as much as I could before I left for my vacation but between packing, finishing up blog posts, and squeezing some last minute get-togethers in, there wasn't much time left for reading. I checked out four ebooks in preparation for the trip, figuring that would be more than enough, but I was in such a reading mood that I had to break into my reserves. By the end of it, I was a book ahead of my Goodreads Reading Challenge, which is about three steps ahead of where I thought I'd be.

Have you been keeping up with xo, Yvette recently? If not, you may have missed out on some Greek mythology recommendations! To catch up on what else I've been reading, all my previous monthly wrap ups can be found here and I always keep my Goodreads as up to date as possible. Want to get to the books? Happy Hub: Teen Beach 2, Oh What A Night!, Pen Pals, & More!

I spent most of the month unplugged so I definitely missed out on a lot of pop culture and other awesome things that I would need the internet to discover. This Happy Hub is going to be on the shorter side but pretty much all my Travelogs (coming soon!) are extended Happy Hubs of my vacation so you'll be getting your fair share of good times and then some. I did manage to fit in some happiness in before I flew across the world, though, so you won't be reading a blank post today.

If you recall, we're going to be on a slightly altered posting schedule through September. All posts will be pushed to Sundays at 12:30pm PST with some exceptions when I have extra posts, such as this one (I'm playing catch up). As usual, catch up on my previous Happy Hubs here, and click the "read more" to read more!

Visiting Voices: Charming Purple Jewelry (ft. Steph)

As you all know, I am still on my semi-hiatus but that doesn't mean you aren't getting new blog posts! I thought I'd throw in some variety on xo, Yvette since all the only things I really talk about are hair and books. I also wanted to showcase Steph's blog, Sparkle and Sprinkle, so I thought I'd hand over the reins for a post. Steph's blog consists of jewelry posts (aka the sparkle) on Tuesdays and baking posts (aka the sprinkle) on Fridays. She actually volunteered to write this post, the angel she is, and you'll find that these pieces are stunning. Can you believe she made all of these?! I wish I were that talented. (She actually just opened her Etsy shop yesterday!) Enough of my yammering. Take it away, Steph!

Yvette told me her favorite color is purple, so for this Visiting Voices I decided to display a few pieces of purple jewelry that I’ve made. I had a lot more than this to choose from, but these three are my favorites.

Book Talk: Greek Mythology Recommendations

By the time this post goes up, I will have already been whisked away to the Mediterranean. While I'm there, I'm going to be spending a lot of time in Greece so I thought it'd be fitting to put together a list of my favorite books and series based on Greek mythology. I tried to gather a variety of series and the differences range from age appropriateness (middle grade through adult are represented) as well as series length (there's a stand alone, a handful of trilogies, and a couple longer series) and the actual myths these books are based on (you'll be seeing Pandora's Box, Persephone, and more). I won't be including the novellas and short stories within the series since those technically aren't required reading and it's more fun to discover those on your own. There's also a mini Visiting Voices in this post courtesy of Allison, so a huge thank you to her for helping me out with this book rec! Let's get to the books!

Book Talk: June Wrap Up

June has been such a long month and I'm not even mad about it. It started out with finals week and moving out then suddenly I was free. Summer at last! I got out of school on a reading high and while I didn't feel like I was reading fast, I definitely managed to fit a hefty amount of books in this month. I even caught up to my Goodreads 2015 Reading Challenge! That'll be very helpful when I fall behind again next month.

If you're interested in seeing what I was reading in previous months, you can find all of those here. Now get comfy and grab a snack because this one's a doozy. Click the read more to get to the books!

Summer Posting Schedule

Summer is in full swing and while I might have more time to blog, I unfortunately have less content. Since #hairoftheweek, which accounts for a majority of my blog posts, is now on hiatus, I'm going to have to switch up the posting schedule for the summer months.

This probably wasn't the type of blog post you were expecting today but as you know, change is upon us here at xo, Yvette. If you've been reading this blog from the beginning, firstly, THANK YOU. You don't know how much it means to me. People actually want to hear what I have to say?! It's an incredible feeling. Secondly, you'd know that I publish a blog post every Sunday at 12:30pm west coast time and the posts that go up on Wednesdays at 4pm are optional. You'd also know that the Sunday posts are the weekly #hairoftheweek posts. Now that that's over for the time being, I have half the content to write about. Up until this point my optional Wednesday posts have been pretty consistent, but that's about to change. For the summer, I am going to push all my posts to Sunday at 12:30pm. That's monthly Wrap Ups and Happy Hubs, as well as any other Book Talks or outstanding #hairoftheweeks. If, for any reason, the four Sundays in that month are not enough, I will then post something on a Wednesday.

But wait, there's more! This summer schedule works great for when I'm home and consistently connected to wi-fi, but I'm going to be out of town for almost the entirety of July and the first part of August. I will not have internet access during that time but I don't want to leave you hanging! I'll still have some blog posts ready to go up. That being said, it is unrealistic for me to pre-write four blog posts so I've settled on a semi-hiatus schedule with two blog posts going up during the month that I'm gone. Not too bad, right? You can expect these hiatus posts to show up on xo, Yvette on July 19th and August 2nd. The regular summer schedule (every Sunday) will resume on August 16th. Since this throws off my Happy Hub and monthly reading Wrap Up, I might be lumping them in with August. It depends on how much I have to say. I'm certain the July Wrap Up will have to be put together with August because I won't have much time to read while I'm away... Now I'm rambling.

We will definitely be back to normal by October when school is back in session and #hairoftheweek is up and running again. Thank you for sticking with me and reading xo, Yvette! Your patience and understanding is much appreciated. I'm excited for the blog posts I have lined up for you during and after my trip so I hope you enjoy them!

Talk to you soon!

xo, Yvette

Happy Hub: Inside Out, Operation Heartstrings, Mr. Alegado, & More!

June was a month of change with the end of the school year and also a time for friends and family (as a result of the former). With the start of summer comes a lot to be happy about and that's what I'll be sharing with you today. There were times when it felt like this month would never end (mostly when I was in the midst of finals week) but looking back on it now, it certainly has flown by. Thankfully, I was able to fit a lot of happiness into those deceivingly short days.

If you haven't already, check out the Happy Hubs from the last four months. Click the read more to see what I've been loving this month!

{Bonus} #hairoftheweek: Lopped Off

I hope everybody is having a great Father's Day and enjoying some quality time with their dads. As you can tell by the title of this blog post, I lopped my hair off! This was not an impulse decision. In fact, it was highly calculated. I didn't want to have that much hair weighing me down when I go away to bake in the Mediterranean sun and I also wanted to do something exciting for the bonus #hairoftheweek. A haircut was long overdue anyway and I thought why not do something a little extreme? My hair grows fast enough that by the time Fall 2015 rolls around, I'll probably have something to work with and I get to experience what it's like to have a light, fluffy hair during the summer!

#hairoftheweek: #tbt Centipede Braid

10 Weeks. 10 Hairstyles. 1 Fan Favorite. The people have spoken. We've seen so many great hairstyles this school year and this season, I'm so pleased with the way this first full year of #hairoftheweek has turned out. It might be hard to top, but I'm confident next year will be just as amazing.

Catch up on the entire season in the Spring 2015 Recap! There you'll find links to each of the season's hairstyles' respective blog posts.

#hairoftheweek: Spring 2015 Recap

Oh my goodness. How is it possible that another season of #hairoftheweek is over?! How is it possible that my first year of college is over?! Since school is out, we won't be jumping into another season. Now that it's summer, I'm taking a hiatus to gather up some ideas for hairstyles so that come Fall 2015, we can hit the ground running.

If you're not up to date on all the previous seasons of #hairoftheweek, what are you waiting for? I've covered Spring 2014, Fall 2014, and Winter 2015. If you're new to #hairoftheweek and want to get caught up, I have a post on the origins. Don't forget to get your vote in after you've read this post if you haven't already!

#hairoftheweek: Lace Up Braid

Dead week is over, which means finals are just around the corner. Thankfully, I've already done the final presentation for one of my classes. All that's left is a paper that's due tomorrow night and a test on Wednesday. Summer is so close, I can almost taste it. There is, however, the issue of packing and moving out. That should be fun.

Book Talk: May Wrap Up

I think it's safe to say I am officially back on my A game. Even discounting my textbooks (and that little cheat of a letter) I managed to get six books in! I'm surprised May turned out the be the month that I completed so many books, especially since it was one of the most intense parts of the quarter. I'm steadily catching up to my 2015 Reading Challenge and hopefully I can get a book or two ahead by the end of June.

If you missed what I was reading last month, worry not! You can find my April Wrap Up here, and if you want to find a little something for yourself, I put together a list of stand alones you might be interested in. Let's get into the books!

#hairoftheweek: Half Loop Braidback

We are closing in on the end of the quarter which means Spring 2015 is coming to an end as well. Worry not! There are three more #hairoftheweek posts (four, if you count the Recap) before the end. Gotta make 'em count! For now, we can enjoy this #hairoftheweek together.

Don't forget to follow this blog either via email or on bloglovin and follow me on Instagram to keep up with #hairoftheweek!

Happy Hub: Bad Blood, Pokemon, Zoya Remy, & More!

Oh goodness, I'm nineteen. May was an awesome month which means this Happy Hub is going to be another lengthy one. A majority of this Happy Hub is going to be essentially the story of my birthday weekend so I hope you don't mind. There was a lot to be happy about this month and I'm excited to share what I've been loving with you.

{Birthday} #hairoftheweek: Centipede Braid

Today is my birthday! I've been celebrating here and there for the past couple of days and I have even more things planned for today and tomorrow. This post is going up a little early because I'm a busy, busy bee and I won't be home when the Sunday posts are usually posted. (I had to get up early to get this post ready to be published!) I think you're gonna like this one. Hopefully you'll enjoy today as much as I will!

#hairoftheweek: Criss Cross Fishtail

I am so close to the end of the school year, it physically hurts. To anybody who's already out of school for the year, lucky you. Next week's #hairoftheweek is a very special one and will probably be a couple hours late due to the fact that it's my birthday and since I'm wearing the hairstyle on the day of, I'll need a little time to compose the verdict portion of the post.

Book Talk: Stand Alone Recommendations

Recently I haven't been reading many stand alones but a conversation with Allison sparked my interest and I thought I'd compile a list of a couple of my favorite stand alones to share with you. These days, it feels like every new release is the first in a trilogy so much that I actually find it shocking when I finish a book that gives me closure. For this list, I tried to select books from a variety of genres, just to give you some options and to have no connections between these books beyond the singularity of their existence.

#hairoftheweek: Rope Accent Fishtail

Happy Mother's Day! Give your mom a big hug from me! I hope you get to go outside and enjoy this sunshiny day with your family. I'll be stuck inside (for most of the day) studying for the tests I have coming up this week. Even though these are only midterms and a lot of my other friends on semester are already done, the end is near and soon I will be free. Just gotta push through this final month. Until then, we can relish in #hairoftheweek.

Book Talk: April Wrap Up

I have a love-hate relationship with this reading month. On the hate side, it took me so long to get through one of the books that it ate up most of the month. Since I'm not one to read two books at once unless absolutely necessary, I was stuck on the one for a while. However on the love side, I got out of my reading slump! All it took was a couple good high fantasy novels to kick me back into gear. Although I had the potential to read more than I actually accomplished, I can't say I'm disappointed with this month.

I've been reading for months now! Click here to check out all my previous book talks. To keep up on what I'm currently reading, add me on Goodreads! Don't forget to follow this blog via email or on bloglovin so you never miss a post! Books are under the read more!

#hairoftheweek: Stacked Pull Through

This week's weather was so much better than I was expecting. Despite my heavy academic workload, things just felt right this week. I broke away from my usual routine (aka actually left my apartment for something other than class) and while it really threw my schedule off, it was refreshing. I don't see this becoming a regular thing, but once in a while is nice.

Happy Hub: Kingsman, Eyes Wide Open, Burgers, & More!

April felt a lot longer than a month. Maybe it was because I had started a new quarter at school or maybe it was because the weather was starting to warm... Who knows. I'm not going to complain. There are times when life moves too fast and I end up feeling cheated of my time. Speaking of time, if you don't have much of it as you're reading this, you may want to bookmark this for later. It's lengthy. I didn't mean it to be, I just had a lot to say about the things I love. Is that so wrong?

#hairoftheweek: Crochet Loop Braid

I've had a bit of an off week and it didn't help that this #hairoftheweek wasn't one of the more successful ones. I didn't have a Wednesday blog post, which you may or may not have taken note of, but that really threw off my groove. I actually forgot I had to post a #hairoftheweek until it was almost too late, whoops. (This is also the reason why there wasn't filter game this week. My bad.) I'm glad I had a three day weekend though. We are a lot further into the quarter than I thought. My R&R has to come to an end, though. Time to get back into the game.

#hairoftheweek: Dutch Side Pony

I have been highly unproductive this week. It didn't help that, although this hairstyle is an Yvette original, I created it at the beginning of the school year. Since I created this hairstyle specifically for this occasion, it's been on hold for a while. What's the occasion, you ask? I'm celebrating the fact that Allison finally sent me the package she'd been holding on to for who knows how long. I'm so happy that she got around to sending it and I can officially sport some Virginia Tech gear.

Visiting Voices: Child Abuse Awareness (ft. Emily)

If you're unfamiliar with Visiting Voices, you are not alone. This is a new series-type thing that I'll be doing occasionally. As you can probably guess from the title, I have a guest blogger this week! This post is going to touch on a serious matter. You may have previously been unaware that April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. I know I was. A couple weeks ago, Emily brought this to my attention and I thought it was something that was worth blogging about. Seeing as I have very little knowledge on the subject, I decided to hand the reins over to Emily and have her write this one. Hopefully by the end of this post you will have a better understanding of child abuse and why it shouldn't be taken lightly, beyond the obvious. Take it away, Emily!

#hairoftheweek: Dutch Fishtail

You might be thinking, "Yvette. Dutch fishtail? Come on, that's just an inverse fishtail." Okay, maybe you didn't think that, but I definitely did. I've always been too intimidated to try Dutch or French braiding my fishtails but recently, I gave French fishtailing a shot and the result looked really neat. I was looking at Spring 2015 to find a nice home for it when I realized that I would be hanging out with Mikaela for her birthday. I immediately picked up my phone to ask her if she wanted to choose a hairstyle for me to do specifically for her birthday. When she got back to me, I saw that she had included this Dutch Fishtail as one of her options and I knew that was the one I had to spring for. I may use the French fishtail for a future #hairoftheweek, but only time will tell.

Book Talk: March Wrap Up

Before I get into the books, I want to wish a very, very happy birthday to my best friend and soul mate, Mikaela! She is incredibly old now (only one more year until twenty!!!!) and deserves a million birthday wishes so leave them in the comments below!

As far as reading goes, I was definitely expecting to get through a lot more than I did this month. With spring break and coming off February on a high note, I was hoping to use my free time more wisely. I will cut myself some slack, though, because, while I had plenty of leisure time over break, I was spending it with my brother. Sibling bonding time is more important than a reading challenge. I have really fallen behind on my 2015 Reading Challenge but I'm just going to count on summer to catch up because Spring Quarter is nonstop. There are a couple books sitting on my bedside table that I'm excited to get to and hopefully those will pick me up out of my reading slump. Click the read more to get into the books!

#hairoftheweek: Reverse Pull Through

Happy Easter! I hope everybody is having a lovely day and spending some quality time with their families. I don't celebrate Easter but I do like to get in on the festivities. In my previous #hairoftheweek post, #tbt Braided Braid, I've hidden a little Easter egg. You may want to consider checking it out (it made me laugh-cry).

There are a couple of exciting things coming up on xo, Yvette, so to ensure you never miss a post, I'd either follow this blog on bloglovin or via email, if that's more your style.

#hairoftheweek: Winter 2015 Recap

This season of #hairoftheweek will always hold a special place in my heart because during this time, I started this blog and celebrated the one year anniversary of #hairoftheweek. There were so many solid hairstyles. I don't know if I'm getting better at doing my hair or if I'm just choosing easier hairstyles. Regardless, a good chunk of these are going into my everyday hair inventory.

As usual, the link to each hairstyles' Instagram post is beneath the photo and the tutorial is linked in the description. Once we get to Feathered Braid, the original blog posts will be linked to in the paragraph and if you're interested in learning how to do any of these (and any future) hairstyles, you can find the tutorials for them in their respective blog posts.

Winter 2015 is the third #hairoftheweek season so if you missed Spring 2014 and Fall 2014, catching up has never been easier. If you're completely unfamiliar to #hairoftheweek, you must be new. Welcome! I have an Origins post that should explain everything. Now that we've covered all the background info, we can get on with this season's hairstyles!

{Bonus} #hairoftheweek: #tbt Braided Braid

As spring break comes to a close, it's time to unveil the bonus #hairoftheweek for Winter 2015. Typically, bonus #hairoftheweeks would be new 'dos like any other #hairoftheweek. The only difference is that it's not in the running for fan favorite. I'm doing something a little different this season. This one is a true throwback and we're gonna travel back in time to August 11th, 2014.

This particular #hairoftheweek means a lot to me both because of the day I originally wore it and the time it was posted on Instagram. First and foremost, I planned it so that this hairstyle would be posted on the one year anniversary of #hairoftheweek! One whole year! It's crazy to think that 365 (366, as this blog post goes up) days ago, I decided to continue trying new hairstyles. It hasn't been easy, but it's always worth the effort. I want to thank all my supportive friends for helping me with choosing filters and captions and sometimes even the hairstyles themselves. Without you, there would be no motivation for me to carry on with this project.

Speaking of awesome friends, the day I wore this hairstyle was the day I finally met Allison and Dee for the first time. They were the first (and so far only) internet friends that I have ever met in real life and that's really all one can hope for when you meet someone on Tumblr.

As far as timing goes it really could not have worked out any better, for relevancy's sake. I'm sure you've all heard about Zayn Malik's departure from One Direction by now. (A moment of silence, please.) I wore this hairstyle to the One Direction concert for their Where We Are Tour at Nationals Park. What a night. It was unforgettable and I am really grateful to have had the opportunity to see Zayn perform live. The feels are strong.

Happy Hub: Olly Murs, Psych, Weddings, & More!

This month was a whirlwind. My academics had me on my toes all month, with finals and whatnot, but I made sure to cut out some time for fun. Thank goodness for spring break, am I right? (Let's try to forget I'm missing two teeth.)

Don't miss a post! Follow xo, Yvette on bloglovin to get notifications when there's a new post. You can also follow all your favorite blogs on the same platform. In case you missed what I was loving last month, you can visit February's Happy Hub!

#hairoftheweek: #tbt Feathered Braid

As this post goes up, I am getting my wisdom teeth taken out. What an adventure. Other than that, there's nothing new to report. Finals are over and spring break is upon us! Now I can spend the entire week recovering. Hopefully by the time school starts again I won't have chipmunk cheeks.

Keep an eye out for next week's bonus #hairoftheweek on Instagram! Then we jump straight into Spring 2015. Wow. One whole year. The official one year anniversary is March 28th. Hopefully that'll give you a hint as to when the bonus #hairoftheweek will be posted. ;)

#hairoftheweek: Fall 2014 Recap

Fall 2014 was the second season of all time and my first season in college. I had a couple hairstyles stocked up from over the summer that I was super excited to break out and use in real life. Fair warning, a good chunk of this season's hairstyles I came up with myself so there aren't tutorials I can link you to. Despite that, the hairstyles I come up with my own are so easy that you can probably figure out how to recreate it just by looking at the photo.

I want to give a huge thank you to all the people who helped me with filter game! The look of my Instagram is determined by you and I love how you are all so supportive of this project. To counter this sappiness, I'm going to shamelessly self promote and let you know that it's free to follow my Instagram to keep up with #hairoftheweek and to keep up with my life, Twitter is the place to be. On to the hair!

#hairoftheweek: Merged Braids

The start of the week was nonstop homework, then come Wednesday I just quit. Who cares if finals are next week? I've got a dream wedding to plan. Now that the weekend has arrived and all my classes are officially over, it's time to hit the books and brace myself for these exams.

Seeing as this is the last #hairoftheweek for Winter 2015, you can all head over to my Instagram and choose your favorite hairstyle for next week's people's choice! Don't be shy! Anybody is welcome to vote and after Tuesday (March 17, 2015), voting will close so don't delay!

#hairoftheweek: Spring 2014 Recap

The inaugural season of #hairoftheweek! We are taking it back to the beginning in this post. When you click the read more, you'll see that each #hairoftheweek style from Spring 2014 has a picture of the hairdo, a brief(ish) description, what you'll need to recreate it, and links to its Instagram post and to tutorials where you can learn how to do these hairstyles yourself!

Writing this blog post was a walk down memory lane. I remember practicing each of these in my bathroom and taking all of these photos. I definitely put a lot of work into #hairoftheweek and I think it paid off. These hairstyles will always hold a special place in my heart and some of them have even made it into my everyday hair arsenal.

If you're new and aren't sure what #hairoftheweek is all about, you can check out the Origins post to get caught up. Once you're ready to get started, go ahead and click on that read more!

#hairoftheweek: Twisted Edged Fishtail

This week has completely flown by. I can hardly remember any of it but there is a lot to remember. (Clouds, anybody?) I do, however, recall having to find time every day to practice this hairstyle. It was definitely not a walk in a park. Speaking of walks, I went on a hike this week. It was for class but four miles is four miles, am I right? I feel like I should be a lot more stressed seeing as this is the last week of class before finals week. The calm before the storm...

If you're new to this blog and you like what you see, be sure to come back every Sunday at 12:30pm PST [x] and most Wednesdays at 4:00pm PST [x] for a new post! If you don't want to be bothered to remember when I post, I feel you. Keeping up is easy. You can either follow by email in the box to your right or you can follow this blog, as well as most other blogs, on bloglovin! On to the good stuff!

Book Talk: February Wrap Up

It's safe to say I started off the month slow. Two books in two weeks? And one of them was for class?! Pick up the pace, Yvette! Thankfully, as the month progressed, I was able to fit more reading in (even though the end of the month was absolutely packed for me). I almost matched January's book count! To see what I read at the start of the year, click here. Looking back, I'm amazed that I found any time at all to read. I had papers due every week on top of midterms and #hairoftheweek and the multitude of other life things.

Even though I read fewer books in February, I did end up with a higher page count than in January. I'd call that a success. Although I still am not yet caught up to my staggering Thirteen Book January of 2014, I would consider myself to be in a good place. I checked two books off my Popsugar Reading Challenge, which I have a post about here, and contributed five books to my Goodreads reading challenge.

#hairoftheweek: Faux Waterfall Headband

We've officially completed xo, Yvette's inaugural month! So far I am really satisfied with this blog and typing up these blog posts is so relaxing. Having the most important things in my life in one space gives me a sense of organization that I'm constantly striving for. Hopefully you are enjoying this blog as much as I am!

Did you know there was a #hairoftheweek last week too? If you missed it, you can find that post here. In fact, there's a #hairoftheweek every week. You can learn more about that here! I tried something new with my previous post and if you're interested, you should check that out here.

If you like what you see, you should follow this blog on bloglovin or simply by email in the box to the right. Want to stay up-to-date on #hairoftheweek? Instagram is the place for you.

Happy Hub: Fifth Harmony, SNL40, Zoya Lux, & More!

If you're familiar with blogs, you'd know that a lot of them do monthly favorites posts and weekly roundups of their favorite links. Happy Hub will be a combination of the two. I'll to be compiling all the things that brought me joy over the last month whether it be music, books, videos, or an event that happened in my life. The plan is to post them on the last Wednesday of every month. Maybe you'll find something here that you missed out on.

If you need to catch up on what's been happening on this blog, click here for some hair, here for some books, and if you're new, these posts here and here should bring you up to speed! Don't forget to follow this blog via email in that box to the right or follow me on bloglovin!

#hairoftheweek: Woven Fishtail

I hope you've had a good week! If you missed my previous post, I wrote about a reading challenge (click here!) and if you want to get caught up on what #hairoftheweek is all about, this is the post for you. If you're new to this blog, welcome! The best place to start would be with the intro post which you can find here.

Even though I have a post on the backstory of #hairoftheweek, I feel like there is a whole chunk of history missing. The hairstyles are the most essential part of #hairoftheweek and having them all in one place would be more convenient and accessible for everybody. I was thinking about creating archive posts for both of the completed #hairoftheweek seasons and at the end of every future season, I'll compile all of the photos and link to each of their blog posts in one. I was originally thinking of publishing it only after the fan favorite had been chosen but it might be smarter to have all the options up so voting can happen in one place. Afterwards, I could update the post to include the chosen favorite. What do you think would be the best way to go about it? Let me know in the comments!

Also, keep up with #hairoftheweek as it happens by following me on Instagram and follow this blog on bloglovin or by email to ensure you never miss a post!

Book Talk: Popsugar 2015 Reading Challenge

We're well into the year and I have been hard at work on my Popsugar 2015 Reading Challenge. I haven't been one to participate in reading challenges in the past beyond my Goodreads reading goal but I thought I might try something new this year. I usually just read whatever I want, whenever I want, which allows me to stay in my comfort zone. Nothing wrong with sticking to what you know, but I always tell myself that I'm going to try reading more classics or that this is the year I'm going to venture into non-fiction but that never seems to happen.

The Popsugar 2015 Reading Challenge is a list of 50 challenges, one of which is "a trilogy" so the challenge technically calls for 52 books. There are quite a few on the list that are vague enough for me to stay in my comfort zone but just enough to push my limits. I'd rather ease into trying new books rather than diving in headfirst. I could have easily allowed myself to count one book for multiple categories and be done with it in two and a half months, but cheaters never prosper. That being said, I don't think completing this challenge is a realistic goal for me. There are so many new releases I have been anticipating (Magnus Chase, anybody?) that there simply isn't enough time in the year to get to every book I'd like to read. At the end of the day, the books I want to read are the ones that take priority because that really is what makes reading fun.

I would love to show you all 52 books I have selected for this challenge but that was be an impossibly tedious task and I can't imagine it'd be enjoyable for you either. However, I will share a couple of the books I am most excited about and will most likely get to. If you are, in fact, interested, I have added all the books I plan on reading to a shelf on my Goodreads which you can find here. Click the read more to see my top five picks!

#hairoftheweek: Mermaid Heart Accent

Happy (day after) Valentine's Day!  I hope everybody had a somewhat pleasant day. It was really just another Saturday for me. We had dinner plans with family anyway so there was no time to mope, not that I have anything to mope about. Now would be a good time to head out and grab some discounted chocolate, though.

If you hadn't noticed yet, I've put a "follow by email" box where you can find my links. It's pretty straightforward. Plug in your email and get an email every time I post! It's a no-brainer. If that's not really your style, you can always follow xo-yvette on tumblr or follow me on bloglovin to get the latest on this blog!

Book Talk: January Wrap Up

Ever since the school year started, finding time to read has been a challenge, especially when you have college classes that are heavy on assigned reading. Luckily, my core class this quarter is about graphic novels which is new and exciting for me. On my own, I would never have picked up a graphic novel to read for pleasure, not because I think graphic novels are less than but because they're just so much harder to read. I have to read the words AND look at the pictures?! A girl can only handle so much! Despite my lack of multitasking skills, I actually have quite enjoyed the graphic novels I've been reading.

Comparing January 2015 to January 2014, this year seems a bit underwhelming. I managed to read 13 books in one month. Incredible. Oh, how I long for the free time that came with high school (that's really the only thing I miss about high school though please don't take me back). That being said, I'm pretty proud of the progress I've made so far this year. I'm more or less on track for my yearly reading challenge. Enough of this mumbo jumbo. On to the wrap up!

#hairoftheweek: Feathered Braid

Ah, yes. Our first official #hairoftheweek post. Before we begin, there a couple things I want to mention. First off, if you're just now joining us, welcome! I have an introduction to the blog here if you want to get caught up. #hairoftheweek-wise we are currently in Week 5 of Season 3 (Winter 2015). If you missed my Wednesday post, and want to know more about #hairoftheweek, click here!

Don't forget, I'm on bloglovin! If you follow me there, you'll get email notifications whenever I post something new (if you so choose) and you can follow all your other favorite blogs and read them all on one platform. Doesn't that sound like something you need in your life?

My current plan is to post every Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:30pm PST and bonus Wednesday posts at around 4:00pm PST. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled, you won't want to miss anything.

Now that we've taken care of the housekeeping bits, we can get on with the fun stuff.

#hairoftheweek: the Origins

As a general rule, I try to make things a lot harder than they have to be (maybe not try, per-se, but it does end up working out that way most of the time). While #hairoftheweek may seem straightforward, it is and it isn't at the same time. Why oh why must you do this to yourself, Yvette?! Overachiever might be a good word to describe me.

It all started my senior year of high school. At this point in my life, my long, shiny hair was a part of my identity. While I took pride in my hair, I wasn't doing anything with it. Everyday was the same old side pony, high pony, signature braid, or down. I felt like my locks, honestly a blessing to the world, were going to waste. This wasn't an explicit feeling at the time but looking back, it's probably one of the reasons that I started playing with my hair. That, and probably boredom.

One day, I was messing around with my mane and I discovered if you make two rope braids from a single ponytail and twist it a certain way, the rope braids would fit together perfectly and end up forming what looked like chain links of hair.

3.28.14 chain ponytail (x)
I wore it to school and I got so many compliments. That day, I decided that #hairoftheweek was something I was going to do once a week to spice up my hair routine. Knowing so many people enjoyed something I created was so rewarding, especially since I would never in a million years consider myself to be a creative person.

There are a couple rules for #hairoftheweek. First and foremost, no coloring. My gramma, before she passed away, told me to never dye my hair because it would ruin it. I know "dye = damage" is a myth but to honor my gramma, I've decided I will never color my hair. Although colorful hair is really cool, I quite like how my Asian hair changes in different lighting and I can be really subtle with the details of the hairstyles.

Secondly, I try to use as little heat as possible. My hair is naturally stick straight (well, it's wavy when it's not so heavy that it weighs a ton and straightens itself out). This is a blessing and a curse. Heat is very damaging to hair and I don't want to subject my hair to that kind of torture especially since I'm already bad about taking care of the ends of my hair. Sometimes having just straight hair can limit my looks and sometimes it even changes the tone of the hairstyle. (That's probably weird to think about if you aren't familiar with hairdos.) On the other hand, I have used heat, a curling wand, in this case, and it held surprisingly well. I wore the same hairstyle for prom and graduation. So I'm not entirely opposed to heat styling, but not owning any hot tools kinda helps.

6.7/14.14 aurora's twistback (x)

So far, we know that #hairoftheweek happens once a week, I'm not using any color, and heat styling is rare. Another thing to note is that I have seasons, so to speak. My hair philosophy is that it should be shared with the world, so I only do #hairoftheweek on days I go to school. Because of this, I take summers off to recharge and build up my bank of new hairstyles for the coming seasons. When I first started, there were ten weeks left of school. It must have been my destiny to be inspired to start #hairoftheweek when I did because of the way the timing worked out. On top of that, now that I'm in college, I'm on a quarter system rather than semester and that breaks it up into eleven weeks, nice and even. Wait, eleven weeks? I thought you said ten weeks was the perfect amount! You're right. This leads me to my next point.

I consider #hairoftheweek to be the people's project. I like to involve my friends as much as possible and I think that's a fun way to keep everybody excited and caring about #hairoftheweek (I'm not gonna lie, I'm the most indecisive person so their input means the world to me). Most of the final products have been influenced by the opinions of a group of friends through a process I like to call "filter game" (patent pending (not really)).

If you aren't in my ~~super exclusive~~ #hairoftheweek contacts list, there's still a chance to participate! At the end of every "season" I have the people vote for their favorite hairstyle from that season for me to recreate on the eleventh week. Voting is open to anybody and everybody who wants to let me know what their favorite look was. I tally up the votes and the one with the most love gets another feature. Typically, each person gets one vote so they have to use it wisely but there is a secret exception to the rule. I keep track of the first person to like each of my #hairoftheweek posts on Instagram and when it comes to voting time, the person with the most first likes gets a second vote. The winner can choose to use their vote on two different hairstyles or double up on one. This just gives people a little incentive to follow me on Instagram and try to keep up. It's a bit difficult since any day of the week is fair game.

Now that we've got all that background knowledge out of the way, we can take a look at how I plan on doing my blog posts. I say that as if I know what I'm doing. Honestly, I don't know how it's going to work at the moment. I want to explain my thought process and how I felt when learning the hairstyle and I'm also going to include the final product. That's for sure. I also want my #hairoftheweek blog posts to go up on Sundays so no matter what day my Instagram post goes live, you definitely won't miss the post about it here. Other than that, I'm just going to have to see where my writing takes me.

Are you still with me? If you are, congratulations! I have no idea how I managed to write all that let alone having you read it all. I hope now that you know how and why #hairoftheweek began, you'll be as excited as I am for #hairoftheweeks to come.

Talk to you soon!

Welcome to xo, Yvette!

Wait, what? Yvette is blogging?! As you've probably gathered from my "about me" section, my name is Yvette and that's pretty much it. I find it difficult to capture everything I want you to know about me with a character count. My hope is that you'll get to know me as friends get to know each other - by spending time with one another. I'm constantly trying to find a solid way to document my life that I can stick to. So far, nothing has been able to hold me for long. Fingers crossed that this blog is the one! I don't consider myself a writer and I certainly do not have high expectations for this blog so I hope you don't either, but I will give it my best shot. For the time being, I'm not entirely sure what I want to go on my blog. There are a couple things I am interested in posting about but the rest is really up in the air (I'm also trying to work out a posting schedule so be patient with me).

Things to look forward to...

1) #hairoftheweek

To start, one of my main purposes for creating this blog is #hairoftheweek. It's a series I do on Instagram and I'll get into more detail in my first post dedicated to the subject. Here's my most recent post:
1.24.15 rope accent four strand (x)
I intend to show you not only the final product, but also my inspiration for the hairstyle (if I created it myself) or where I learned to recreate it. The latter is much more common. If you're interested in seeing more of my previous #hairoftheweek creations, scroll through my Instagram and see if anything catches your eye.

2) travelogs

Another series, so to speak, is my travelogs. Traveling has been a huge part of my life and its importance to me could be a post in and of itself. That being said, I wish I would remember to write about them as they happen, or at least right after my trips end. I always tell myself I'll do it soon but soon never comes, does it? I'm not sure how I want to format it yet. They could come as day-by-day journal-style posts or it could be a trip wrap up and reflection. I have some thinking to do, but to get started, I thought I'd share a photo from one of my more recent trips.

Reykjavik's winter solstice sunset (against the Harpa concert hall) (x)

I spent about a week in Iceland in 2014 and it was one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. I couldn't tell you exactly what made me fall so in love with it but the scenery definitely didn't hurt. I was lucky enough to be there during the winter solstice and that 3pm sunset was a sight to behold. My 2014 winter break was really a once in a lifetime experience and the future probably holds a blog post about it. Obviously, travelogs won't be very consistent as I am not traveling 100% of the time but when I am going somewhere, this blog will give me a place to put my thoughts.

3) miscellaneous

As I said before, I'm not entirely sure what else I want to put on this blog. Beyond hair and travel, my interests include books, nail polish, and boybands, among other things. I want to try my hand at book talks. You'd think I'd be well versed in the art of book reviews based off the sheer number of books I've read but I definitely do not feel confident enough to venture out that far yet. But I can guarantee you that book talks won't be the only book-related posts. I'll most likely be doing most anticipated new releases, to be read posts, and other posts of the sort. (Check out my Goodreads page!) Movie reviews (I use this term loosely)? Nail polish appreciation? Life things?! The possibilities are endless. Stick around to see what this blog has in store!

Talk to you soon!
