Visiting Voices: Charming Purple Jewelry (ft. Steph)

As you all know, I am still on my semi-hiatus but that doesn't mean you aren't getting new blog posts! I thought I'd throw in some variety on xo, Yvette since all the only things I really talk about are hair and books. I also wanted to showcase Steph's blog, Sparkle and Sprinkle, so I thought I'd hand over the reins for a post. Steph's blog consists of jewelry posts (aka the sparkle) on Tuesdays and baking posts (aka the sprinkle) on Fridays. She actually volunteered to write this post, the angel she is, and you'll find that these pieces are stunning. Can you believe she made all of these?! I wish I were that talented. (She actually just opened her Etsy shop yesterday!) Enough of my yammering. Take it away, Steph!

Yvette told me her favorite color is purple, so for this Visiting Voices I decided to display a few pieces of purple jewelry that I’ve made. I had a lot more than this to choose from, but these three are my favorites.

Purple and Black Dichroic Glass Necklace

Dichroic glass has this really cool metallic reflective property, which I did my best to capture in the photo of this necklace. The dichroic glass is in the pendant. Anyway, I kind of designed the necklace around the colors in the pendant, so there are some small purple beads, black beads (which start out as cubes and change to seed beads further up the necklace), silver spacer beads, and some clear crystals with an aurora borealis finish. The aurora borealis finish reflects in a similar way to the dichroic glass in that it looks different depending on the lighting, but it’s not metallic. I think this necklace would be a great addition to an outfit for a night on the town.

Purple and Silver Triple-Strand Bracelet

I love the colors and textures in this bracelet. Lavender and silver always look great with each other and the contrast between the chunky purple magnesite beads and the silver glass pearls give it interest. Magnesite is a pretty versatile stone in that it can be dyed any color of the rainbow, and is often used as an inexpensive substitute for turquoise. If you’d like to try your hand at making one yourself, you’re in luck because I actually wrote a tutorial for this bracelet on my blog. This bracelet would make a good statement piece while not being too overwhelming. The magnesite is also fairly lightweight, so it won’t feel like you’ve got a lead chain around your wrist.

Purple Agate Earrings

These earrings were originally made for someone as a Christmas gift. The original pair was a bit darker, but the store where I bought the beads changed their supply slightly so I had to tweak the design. I wish now that I had gotten a picture of the original before wrapping it up and giving it away. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that. Although I don’t like the altered design as much as the original, I still think these earrings are pretty. There’s something to be said for their simplicity that would complement any outfit with purple in it. The agate beads are actually very light and don’t drag your ear lobe down.

I hope you like these pieces as much as I do! If you enjoyed this post or even just enjoyed looking at the pictures, head on over to my blog, Sparkle and Sprinkle. Every Tuesday I post a jewelry blog and every Friday I post a baking blog. I’ve recently started testing out Pinterest recipes, which Yvette helped name “Pintertesting.” Check out the first Pintertest on Rolo stuffed cookies here. Thanks for reading!

I don't know about you, but these really speak to me (especially that dichroic glass, oh man). Thank you so much for taking the time to write this Visiting Voices, Steph! If you're interested in purchasing the Purple and Silver Triple-Strand Bracelet, it's listed in Steph's Etsy shop here! Definitely make sure to follow her blog via email (in the sidebar of her page) or via bloglovin and give her some love!  You won't be sorry. If you're missing me (which is totally what's happening), don't worry! You can catch up on my previous blog post while you wait for my return. I'll be back before you know it and you'll be hearing from me again soon so until then!

Talk to you soon,

xo, Yvette
